Two Year
Old Program
Miss Lori
M, Teacher
Lori has worked with children for many years. She volunteered in her children’s
classrooms when they were small, and has been a preschool teacher for the past
six years at Hilltop in Liberty. When asked what her favorite thing about
working in early childhood education she said, "getting to witness firsthand the
marvels and wonders of their developing minds."
Lori graduated from CMSU in 1981
with Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Corrections, and worked in the
insurance field for many years prior to beginning in the childcare field. She
has been married for 23 years and is the proud mother of three, ages 21, 17, and
12. In her free time she loves to flower garden, read, and watch amateur sports,
especially wrestling, soccer, and fast pitch softball.
Miss Patti,
Teacher
Patti has worked in early learning and childcare for fourteen years. She has
worked with the director of Spectrum Station, Jan Powell, for seven years. At a
previous childcare center, she was instrumental in helping Jan achieve
accreditation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC). With this background and expertise, she is an asset in assisting with
the NAEYC accreditation for Spectrum Station.
Patti and her husband have two
daughters who also work in the early childhood education field.
Miss
Marsha, Teacher
Marsha came into the early childhood education field after a long search to
"make a difference." After school, Marsha spent many years in the hotel
business. While her 2 grown children were young, Marsha operated a day care in
her home for 2 years. It was a wonderful way for her to be with her children.
Marsha returned to work with World Com for the next eleven years. It was during
this time; Marsha re-married a wonderful man, Bob. Soon after, her third child
came along. While Bobby was young, she took early retirement to spend more time
with him. After one year, she decided to find the perfect job. She found it in
early childhood education.
Marsha began working with our
executive director, Jan, in September of 2000. Working with toddlers, Marsha
became a tremendous influence on their introduction to learning experiences.
They explored, discovered and created! Marsha also has experience with preschool
children. Her positive outlook on life is a joy to those around. She is the most
awake and positive person you will ever meet early in the morning!
Miss Hannah, Teacher
Hannah joined our team in January of 2007. She tells us that spending time with
the children of family and friends was a great incentive to join the early
education field. Hannah graduated from Liberty High School. While there, Hannah
worked with the wrestling team as a trainer. Hannah also attends massage therapy
school.
Hannah loves to spend time with
family. She describes them as vibrant, easy-going people that love to sail!
Hannah stays very busy with her many interests and hobbies which include riding
street bikes, movies with friends, sailing, camping, bowling and anything else
that's active. One of the ways Hannah stays active is taking care of her three
dogs!
Miss Stefanie,
Teacher
Stefanie joined our Spectrum Station team in August of 2004. She is currently
attending college at Maple Woods Community College where she is taking
prerequisite classes.
Stefanie says she absolutely LOVES kids! She has always done babysitting.
Stefanie has several years experience in childcare. She worked at St. Gabriels'
early learning center with school-age children. She also worked at St. Andrews'
early learning center with toddlers.
Stefanie still lives at home with her parents. Her mom works at a library
and her dad is an accountant. Stefanie's brother attends UMKC. Stefanie is a very creative person. She loves painting and decorating.
In her free time she also enjoys taking pictures and scrapbooking. But, she says
her favorite thing to do is hang out with her little cousin.
Miss Jackie,
Teacher
We're always happy when teachers return to our center. Jackie originally worked
at Spectrum Station for nearly a year 2005-2006 while she attended Maple Woods
Community college. In January of 06, Jackie then went on to Northwest Missouri
State where she majored in Education. Jackie returned to our center in September
of 2007. Jackie has worked with a variety of age groups at our center and has settled in
our two's program.
Jackie lives at home with her mom and older brother, both of whom are her best
friends. She loves to sign and dance and shopping rates pretty high on her
hobby list.
