Jan Powell, Area Manager of Spectrum Station LLC
Jan Powell has more than twenty years of experience as an early learning and childcare center director. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and has successfully directed three different early learning centers in the Northland area of Kansas City, MO for a national corporation. A successful early learning program requires a director with a strong management background, as well as experience in education. Not only does Jan have the educational background needed, she has worked in a management position since 1979.
Jan's professional qualifications and extensive experience equip her for her present position as Executive Director of Spectrum Station Early Learning and Family Resource Center. Her responsibilities as director of the center include the management of all the center operations. She oversees staffing and personnel, financial procedures, facility, curriculum and program development, inservice training of teachers and staff, special activities and resources for the family, and bridging the transitions between school and home.
In addition to her responsibilities as a center director, Jan is very involved with promoting and fostering community relationships. She conducts leadership training and workshops for teachers of other early learning organizations and assists center directors in preparing for the process necessary for accreditation by the QRS, Missouri’s Quality Rating System. Achieving this level of excellence for a childcare center is a coveted milestone in the field of early learning education. She also works closely with the corporate community to establish collaborative partnerships that ensure ongoing, quality education for the young child, as well as positive interactions with the parents.
